Assignment 1 – Deeper Dive Inquiry Overview + Aims
My Deeper Dive Inquiry Project can be summarized as the engagement and development of creative skills.
I have decided to merge my previous 10-day creative challenge idea into three main themes that fit together: written work, visual storytelling, and craft-based experiments. This way, I am able to produce more elaborate end products that will hopefully reflect my goal of intentionally engaging with my interests.
This blog will serve as a creative hub where I can explore what it means to merge my online presence and the tools that are important to me in the physical world; How will having this blog enable me to be more thoughtful in my day-to-day life? I aim to explore how digital tools can shape my creative and academic work.
Through this project, I aim to
- Learn how to cite and give credit where necessary.
- Learn new skills such as video editing, how to upload a video/podcast onto the blog, how to create an aesthetically pleasing blog, uploading multimedia
- Developing a relationship with the digital world that can enable me to engage with my interests/hobbies creatively
- Having a central place such as my blog to compile resources that are thought-provoking
I will be documenting this process and sharing it on my blog. This is a nerve-wracking yet exciting assignment for me because I tend to keep my creative projects private. It is so much more important for me to create something, almost like a new language that has not been heard before. This drive to be innovative often leaves me with writer’s blocks that sometimes last for months, this is exactly why I wanted to push myself for this course.
Here are the categories and what post corresponds
- Written work
- Focusing on a specific scene from a film I have seen recently: reflect on the stylist elements and upload the scene to the blog (academically)
- Write a poem and figure out a way to incorporate terms that I have learned about in this course (open licensing, fair dealing, curation, digital identity, digital presence, digital citizenship, etc)
- Visual storytelling
- New software skill → video editing: I plan to make a video merging a plethora of clips I have recorded to all come together to fit into the theme of Fragments of Time (incorporate video poetry, involving editing, sound, visuals, text over images possible)
- Craft based experiment
- Crafting challenge → pick a term from our digital literacy course, and then cut out images from magazines/newspapers, and glue them together to represent a concept/term (for example open licensing, fair dealing, curation, digital identity, digital presence, digital citizenship etc)
This is going to be an experience! I am excited to share more on my blog!
